202 – All the Elements
Really, it’s just a catch all for anything that hasn’t made it neatly (back) into the cupboard of love. If I’m being perfectly honest (shhh…) I haven’t been able to see the chair for weeks! The fabrics are coming in faster than I, or the chair, can sort them. You won’t find me complaining about this, except for the fact that I now have no where to sit!
One of the first fabrics I really committed to (and by committed, I really meanobsessed）艺术画廊的椭圆形元素范围。 If you want to get even more fabric scientific about it, you’ll often hear about 90% tone-on-tone, or 70%, etc. This means that there may be 70% of one colour family, and 30% of another. An example of this is shown in the top Peaches N Cream fabric below. It contains a medium, and lighter orange, but also the white circles, so it would be about 70% tone-on-tone. Conversely, the other two, Papaya Orange and Tangerine Tango are 100% tone-on-tone.
Wow! I bet you weren’t expecting a fabric lesson today, were you!? School ma’am Molli in full effect, y’all!
These latest acquisitions of Oval Elements I picked up atQuiltsmithin Sydney on my grand fabric adventure with Alyce a few weeks ago. (Yes, I’m still talking about it, and I’m still gonna be talking about it in the weeks to come. I somehow think you’ll deal, LOL!) These are just some stashing duties that needed to be fulfilled. I really let myself off the hook on that fateful day, but I know these are pieces I’ll use. That’s the glory glory hallelujah of tone-on-tones, you’re always going to need them. They’re like the orchestra for the feature vocalist. You may not see them right away, but laaaaaaa, they’re gonna make your quilt sing.
Since that was my first trip toQuiltsmith，
